BEIJING, Sept. 23 -- At the invitation of the US side, General Wu Yanan, commander of the Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), led a delegation to Hawaii to attend the Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defense Conference from September 18 to 20.
During the conference, Gen. Wu Yanan held bilateral meetings or had interactive exchanges with participants from Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, France, the United States and other countries.
During Gen. Wu Yanan's meeting with Adm. Samuel J. Paparo, commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, both sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on issues of common concern, focusing on implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state.
